That aligns with the findings of Emmanuel Stamatakis of Monash University, in Melbourne. Writing in the British Journal of Sports Medicine in September, Dr Stamatakis and his colleagues tracked the joint effects of step count and intensity on the health of 64,743 participants for around eight years, using data from UK BioBank, a large data set. As with step count, quicker cadences were generally beneficial. Those who walked between 0 and 5,000 brisk steps per day achieved, on average, a similar reduction in mortality risk to those who ambled for between 5,000 and 7,500 steps. But diminishing returns applied to cadence too. The paper suggests the sweet spot, therefore, is walking 7,500-10,000 steps a day, with frequent intervals at 100 steps a minute.
1. the joint effects of A and B on C
The World Bank is studying the joint effects of inflation and high interest rates on household spending.
2. achieve a similar reduction in A to B
主语先交代采取了什么办法,achieve a similar reduction in...
In the trial, the lower dose achieved a similar reduction in pain to the standard dose.
3. the sweet spot
Netflix is trying to find the sweet spot between subscription prices and advertising revenue.
align with the findings of...:与……
Writing in the British Journal of Sports Medicine in September, Dr Stamatakis and his colleagues tracked the joint effects of step count and intensity on the health of 64,743 participants for around eight years, using data from UK BioBank, a large data set.
Dr Stamatakis and his colleagues tracked the joint effects...。句首 Writing in...
Writing in the British Journal...
A 10,000-step goal can encourage healthier behaviour, but it should be treated as guidance rather than a rigid rule.
Students preparing for China's postgraduate entrance examination may benefit more from focused revision than from adding another hour of distracted study.
CATTI翻译:with frequent intervals at 100 steps a minute 不能按字面译成“带有频繁的间隔”。
